Thailand Challenge
In celebration of Bupa's 60th anniversary, Community Connections launched its most ambitious project to date - a special challenge that would take 60 Bupa employees to an orphanage in northern Thailand.
Their mission was to help improve the lives of the 126 children at Sarnelli House, all of whom have been affected by Aids and HIV.
The impact of those six weeks, from 26 October to 7 December 2007, has been far-reaching both for the orphans and their Bupa supporters.
Since Community Connections was created in 2001, it has helped hundreds of communities across the UK through its charitable giving, employees volunteering and fundraising programmes.
Although it has financially assisted a number of international charity projects in the past, the Thailand Challenge is by far the biggest and has captured the imagination like nothing before it.
Over £70,000 has already been raised as part of the challenge and the fundraising is on-going, while there have been over 21,000 hits on the volunteer blog.

The Bupa 60th Anniversary Challenge has made it through to the finals of the British Insurance Awards 2008 for the CSR Project of the year the category.
Bupa are up against four other companies and the winner will be announced at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 9th July.
